No harm if students listen to PM Narendra Modi's Teacher's Day speech
A row has erupted over the HRD ministry's directive to the government schools under the Centre and states in which it has been told that arrangements should be made for live telecast of PM Narendra Modi's speech on Teacher's day and the students should be made to listen to the speech. Political parties, academicians, teachers, students and parents differ on the merits and de-merits of the circular.
Agree
"We are Hindi based people, even our mother tongue is Hindi and we hearty welcome the proposal of the government. But this proposal somehow hurt the feeling of those people who have presently opted for other languages. But I feel, a sole national language brings unity and harmony in the nation. So, the whole administrative work of the nation need to be done in sole language only. But if this proposal won't get approved officially then how people will accept the sole language and work in it only. If foreigners can learn Hindi to work in India then why don't Indian citizens do the same."
Adv. Ashok Agarwal, National President, All India Parents Association
Disagree
"If Modi was serious about improving school education system, then this step could have been justified. As of now, the education system needs funds and very little has been allocated in the last budget. So when the funds for developing the basic education system is lacking, then giving 'bhashan' to the students simply cannot help to improve their careers."
Debasish Sarkar, West Bengal Govt College Teachers' Association

there is no harm if the PM inspires the students and teachers with his vibrant personality and motivating words. This will not only fill enthusiasm in students but will also enlighten their hearts with the feeling of patriotism. They ill be more aware that its high time that the country needs good people as they ill listen to a man who is serving the country with all his best efforts. Only a strong personality can make changes with positive attitude.

Nervous Congressi | Jan 10, 2015
What is wrong in showing live? these congress people are getting nervous that day by day Modiji is connecting with the people whenever he get the opportunity... And they get less chance of beating him down in political gimmick which they thought were the masters of.
Any problem? | Jan 10, 2015
Its always better to listen to talking PM than the listening/ordertaking PM. The PM talks about cleanliness, moral values and how the children can serve the nation. What the hell is problem with anti-BJP faction? Would you rather see children grow up with zero values and live in absolute filth that you have grown in?
Be thankful | Jan 10, 2015
We should be thankful to god that we have got a prime minister after Indira Gandhi who can leave a mark on a people mind.

PM addressed both teachers as well as Students. His effort was sincere and it did have a great impact on both teachers as well as children and therefore proves the point the point that PM did the appropriate thing. people opposing must grow up, after all his speach did inspire both teachers and the students. At least people should stop politicising Defence, Education, Health and Media.
After a decade of a mute Prime Minister, we get a PM who is very communicative to people. What's wrong if he communicate with students. In fact it should be welcome full heartedly! Students read former prime ministers life stories in their text book. They would be thrilled & encouraged getting a Prime mInister interacting them live! There must end to cynicism!

He should be addressing school managements and Teachers instead of Students on Teachers day and inspire them for better standards of teaching and address the issue of corruption and business like attitude of schools that charge huge fees.
Ranjit Singh | Sep 04, 2014
Right now. More than Investment, Lokpal, Corruption control..Current generation needs to believe in itself. Modi has the power to change the mindset to people and what better occasion than teachers day. We should be thankful to god that we have got a prime minister after Indira Gandhi who can leave a mark on a people mind.

what is wrong in showing live? these congress people are getting nervous that day by day Modiji is connecting with the people whenever he get the opportunity..we want our next generation should be with high positive attitude then only we will become super power in the future..for that, PM speech definitely a stepping stone..

The leader of the nation has every right to address the children of the nation! The country has gone to the dogs and these children need proper direction and a leader who inspires them! This has nothing to do with saffronization. The PM talks about cleanliness, moral values and how the children can serve the nation. Now what the hell is your problem? Would you rather see children grow up with zero values and live in absolute filth?

If improvement is the agenda, It should not be language rather it should be program to bring-in quality staff, awareness, infrastructure, opportunity compared with best what is around the world from school to college to research. Now Banking sector has started to move towards this because of profit/loss/NPA. But in education?. who care's for what students gain/lose?. Schools and colleges are mostly run by people who run politics. who's gain they will look for?. there is so much interest for MBBS in india but why medical colleges are less ? why doesn't the same apply for engineering colleges? Why hundreds of engineering colleges gets approval every year why ?

The BJP is surely pushing the RSS' agenda - Hindutva - an ideology of hate & bigotry. Having realised that forcing schools to telecast his speech is not acceptable, now it says it is voluntary.
