Jaipur celebrates Basant Panchami with gaiety and fervour
In Jaipur, Basant Panchami festival was celebrated on February 10 in institutions, temples, social organisations, music schools and community centres.

In temples, including the famous Govind Devji temple, deities were dressed in new yellow along with flower rangolis in the thresholds of the premises. Musical concerts were held a few places to enliven the observance by invoking Devi Saraswati.

Basant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Magha every year. Fairs were held in a few localities including Galtaji where devotees took dip in the lake early morning. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot greeted people to wish peace and prosperity to them on the occasion of Basant Panchami.

Soumana Datta in her Facebook post wrote, "It is Basant Panchami festival today. Nature is in bloom. Students are praying to Goddess Saraswati garlanded in yellow marigold. The Gods in temples dressed in yellow velvet, silk and satin clothes. Mustard, wedelia, marigold are blooming. The Earth is bathed in yellow. Songs and dance are in the air as couples get married on this auspicious day. Can you hear the bird and bee songs!" She wished 'Happy Basant Panchami !" along with sending a photograph she clicked at temple with deity dressed in yellow.

"Basant Panchami day is dedicated to Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, arts, science and technology. Goddess Saraswati is worshipped on Vasant Panchami day. Vasant Panchami is also known as Shri Panchami and Saraswati Panchami. People worship Goddess Saraswati to get enlighten with knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance. This ritual of initiating education to children is known as Akshar-Abhyasam or Vidya-Arambham/Praasana which is one of the famous rituals of Vasant Panchami. Schools and colleges arrange pujas in the morning to seek blessing of the Goddess," informed drikpanchang website.

Here are two haiku, I wrote on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
