Jagan sets April 6 as deadline for resignation of his MPs if special status isn't granted to AP
Setting a firm deadline to mount pressure on the Central and state governments for the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said that his party's MPs would quit the Parliament if the just demand was not conceded before the end of Parliament session in April first week and asserted that the fight would be intensified and appealed to the people not to be cheated with special packages.

"Our party MPs will quit on April 6 if the SCS is accorded and as a run-up to the deadline, we have a drawn up an action plan to mount pressure on the SCS and will hold state wide protests and lay siege of collector offices in all 13 districts on March 1," he added.

"The campaign for SCS with the slogan, 'Hodha mana hakku, Package tho mosapovoddu' (SCS is our right, do not be cheated by Special Package) will be a nation-wide one," he added further while addressing a public meeting as part of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra in Kaligiri of Nellore district.

After the March 1 picketing of collector offices, the fight would continue, the leader of opposition said and the fight will be taken to the national capital, with the party MPs, MLAs and other leaders marching to the Parliament on March 5.

The fight will continue at various forums for SCS inside and outside Parliament throughout the budget session of the Parliament and if there would be no response from the Central government all party MPs would submit their resignations on April 6 if the demand of SCS is not met with before the session ending, he added.

He accused that the present government has been trying to treat SCS with special package which is not the case and the package can never be an alternative to the SCS which brings with it many sops for rapid industrialisation, employment generation and fast rate of development he said.

He lamented that Chandrababu Naidu government has been always on the path of compromise and he has been placing personal interests ahead of the state's interests and listed out the failures of the TDP government and the Navaratnas which would benefit all sections of people.
